Let the fun begin- Christmas home tour 2019!

Friends, I do not know about you but the short stretch between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year did me in! How did December pass so quick? In true Kelly style, I decorated most of my home prior to Thanksgiving. I just love to get the trees and lights up by mid-November! Gives me plenty of time to enjoy it!

Our main tree is in our family room. It is flocked and this year I went with mostly neutral decor with pops of red.

Our family room has patio doors that lead out to our pool. Living in Florida, we spend most of December with the doors open, enjoying the gorgeous sunshine!

Holiday Pillows

I am a former Michigan girl enjoying Florida winters- that is for sure! Sunshine and happiness, yes please!

Santa!

I love decorating each of our tables with holiday decor! This one remained neutral with just a bit of Santa red!

Don’t you love a cute Christmas sign? I have them everywhere! Here is one I got from Hobby Lobby two years ago.

This wooden tray sits on our ottoman. Styling it for each season is so much fun!

Christmas Home Tour 2019- All About Trees!

A full shot of the tree at sunset. I sure will miss this view!

We finally retired our old Christmas tree. It lived a full life, getting us through 13 Christmases! Can you believe that? The pre-lit lights quit working years ago, and I flocked it a couple of years ago to change it up! That tree was a king. May it rest in piece!

I ordered a new tree from Michaels in November. Love it!

Last shot of this tree- I promise!

Remember my first board and batten wall project? Well here it is all dressed up for the holidays!

So here is a little story from when I styled this bench. I got every piece perfect, exactly how I wanted it. The colors and the perfect combo of red and white had me so excited! Then I realized it. The type of decor snag that makes you want to take the blanket and pillows and throw them across the room- the blanket was upside down! Now, with the majority of blankets this would not be a thing. But this one has these cute little reindeer, and the deer were upside down! I had to fix it!

Kitchen Christmas Style

This year, I was pretty calm with our kitchen decor. I did dress up our coffee bar for the season! What do you think?

Seeing this makes me want a yummy cup of warm coffee now! What can I serve up for you?

I created this backsplash myself, using masking tape, a ruler, and joint compound. Click here to check out a step by step tutorial on this cool (and inexpensive) DIY!

This year, I put a Christmas tree in our foyer. I ordered a 7 foot slim white tree from Wayfair in October. Wait, what?! A slim tree- and white? Immediately after I confirmed payment, I second guessed my purchase. Do you ever do that?

The tree arrived four days later and I decided I should take it out of the box and assemble it. You know, to hopefully ease my mind about this purchase! To convince myself the tree would not be a disaster. It was two weeks before Halloween. I assembled the tree- and on a whim, decided to decorate it for fall. And you know what? I fell in LOVE with it! Omg- give me all the white trees! I love it!

All the worry about it being tacky or awkward was for nothing! This tree became my absolute favorite for this season! While looking at it, I think there is just something so eye catching about the sharp colors against the bright white of the tree. Orange and black against the white looks so clean and sharp!

After Halloween, I changed the decorations over to Christmas. I used the most unconventional colors on my most unconventional tree! See what I did there?!

Fall Tree Turned Christmas Tree on our Christmas Home Tour 2019

Christmas Home Tour- 2019

This tree, my friends. This tree may just be my favorite of all TIME! Black, white, navy, and subtle touches of gold… oh la la. I saw a picture of a tree with these untraditional colors and next thing I knew, during my next trip to Hobby Lobby, I bought some navy glass bulb ornaments and navy ribbon. Done deal! It was a go and I was not mad about it!

I get asked a lot about the tree skirts I used for both the fall and Christmas style of this tree. Would you believe it if I told you it is just fabric? Literally- I purchased a yard and a half by a yard and a half of the fabric of my choice! This girl does not sew. I used two sided fabric tape to make the hemline for each of the skirts- all you need is an iron! Super easy and inexpensive!

I love the beautiful tree skirts I see in stores but because I change the theme and style of my trees each year, I am hesitant to commit. Creating my own skirt gives me just the right look I want and is cost effective, win win!

So friends, there you have it- my 2019 Christmas home tour! I hope it has inspired you and sparked ideas for your holiday decor! Tis the season!
