…what’s this I speak of?! Making over a wall you made over, clear as mud, right? Hello sweet friends! I love that you stopped by! Today I am redoing a wall in our family room for the 203rd time. Lol- kidding! But this is a wall I have redone before and you know what- who cares! That is the cool thing about doing what you love in your home. You have the right to always change things!
Let’s Makeover the Wall!
So the wall I am redoing is the very wall that I painted stripes on that launched this blog. Feels super appropriate for my 52nd blog post, right? And I guess technically I need to disclose I am. I am not completely making over the wall, just repainting the top off and adding different decor. And hooks. Click this link to see where it all began- from a blank wall to having stripes!
After four years of stripes, I changed it completely by adding board and batten. I painted the B and B ultra white and the space above the B and B Iron Ore by Sherwin Williams. It is a soft shade of black!
Here is a picture of the wall after I did the board and batten. That black and white had me like BAM! I loved it, but over time I began to long for something more soft and bright.
Friends, I have to tell you I am absolutely smitten with board and batten! I love the look- so clean and crisp- and it makes the space look so regal. And hanging it is not hard- trust me, if I can do it, ANYONE can do it!
Choosing Your Colors
I loved, loved, loved the black and white. The sharp contrast really makes each color pop! But ten months later, I want something softer in this space. Something more neutral that fits the decor and furniture.
Are you looking for a quick, inexpensive way to update the look of any room? Then paint is your friend, my friend! Paint is like magic. It can do miraculous things. Grab a brush and a can and make great things happen! For this makeover, I chose the Sherwin Williams color Agreeable Gray.
I love living in Florida! It is February and I love having our patio doors open. This view makes me smile for many reasons- the least of which being the picture of the people I love most!
I was looking for the perfect decorative piece and here it is! A portrait of the five of us, which is SUPER rare. This was taken the day our oldest graduated high school in 2017. So proud of this kid! Thank you, Smallwoods Home, for creating this piece that is the perfect size for this space ( 45 x 22)!
I hung the board and batten on this wall myself!
