Hello sweet friends! How are you? I truly hope you are doing well and had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! Did you cook the turkey? I hope you enjoyed time with family and friends! Have you started decorating for Christmas? Today I am excited to share my holiday home tour 2018! Thanks for joining me!
Holiday Home Tour 2018
Welcome to our holiday home! The garland that adorns our front door is celebrating it’s 6th Christmas! Six years! Six years ago, I took some plain garland and loaded it up with deco mesh, cute ribbon, and lots and LOTS of ornaments! My glue gun was operating in full force! I made the wreath the same year to match. It has a whimsical feel, which I love! The lights quit working two years ago, so I added a random string just so at night it would look cute.
Goals for our next home include a large, welcoming porch!
We live in Florida and I cannot imagine living anywhere else. I love this state! One of many perks include being able to enjoy beautiful flowers all year round. Yes!
Holiday Home Tour 2018- Our Christmas Tree!
Last year, I took the plunge to neutral holiday decor and I LOVED it! After years of decorating with the traditional Christmas colors of green and red, it was fun to experiment with all white, gold, and silver. It looked so pretty and photographed so well! But, I will admit, I missed my red! There is something about white and the pop of a crisp red in seasonal decor that I love. So this year, I brought it back!
Does your Christmas tree have a theme? Mine typically do not have a theme, but they do have a color(s) most years! Twelve years ago, I bought all lilac colored tree decor- ornaments, ribbon, and a gorgeous soft purple tree skirt. Oh! I was a huge fan of the Kmart Martha Stewart line, and it showed! After sporting that for 4-5 years, I shifted to red and green. I wish I had pictures of my trees through the years! That would be fun!
Here is this year’s tree:
This year, I used white and a red and white striped ribbon. I also added a faux fur white ribbon for texture, which I love! As I start decorating my tree, I always begin by placing the ribbon on first. And I like a lot of ribbon!
Holiday Home Tour 2018- Our Mantle!
New in our home is a gorgeous mantle! About six weeks ago, I purchased this beauty from Facebook Marketplace. It was bright, shiny orange when I got it and I chalk painted it white. I love it! When I began searching for a faux fireplace, I looked for one that would look awesome decorated throughout the year. Here it is all decked out for Christmas!
See those pops of white and red?! My favorite!
Holiday Home Tour 2018- Our Cozy Living Room!
The buffalo check runner is leftover from Halloween. I left it out and kind of like it! There really is not much black in my Christmas decor, but somehow it seems to work!

I like for our living room to feel super cozy at Christmas! Yes, this means we pretend we are not in Florida where it is 80 degrees. It is easy to get that cozy feel by adding lots of throw pillows and blankets! Helpful tip: All of my blankets and pillow covers are washable. They have to be if they are white and you have a family! I wash everything once every two weeks to keep the white crisp!
I pretend my husband and kids do not put their feet on the plaid runner on the ottoman!
Holiday Home Tour 2018- Not Everything is Shiny and New!
Let’s chat about my Christmas tree for a moment! I purchased this tree at Lowe’s on Black Friday in 2006. We had moved from Michigan to Florida that summer and my old tree did not make the move. I admit I am not gracious when I pack away any of my holiday decor- I usually am in a hurry and just want to get it done so I shove stuff wherever! This includes my tree! It is in AWFUL shape. The pre-lit lights have not worked in years and there are branches missing and huge bald spots. Last year, I may or may not have used hot glue on the tree topper to keep it from falling off!
I flocked the tree last year. For the last three years, I have promised this thing would hit the curb and not our garage when the holiday season ended. But, here it is AGAIN! I am not sure why I keep it, if I am honest! Truth is I just keep throwing more stuff on it to make it work, and I do love that I can twist and bend the branches to my liking without guilt. Here’s to another Christmas with this old tree!
Holiday Home Tour 2018- Our Hot Cocoa Bar!
My holiday decor cannot be complete without a hot cocoa bar! I started this last year, after drooling over pins on Pinterest for years! Honestly, we do not use it much other than on Christmas Eve, but I like the idea of it so it works. When it comes to decor, it should be about what you like and what makes YOU happy! And a hot cocoa bar makes me happy.
Last year, I wrote a blog post full of tips for creating a hot cocoa bar! Click here for easy ideas for this fun holiday addition.
Stop by and enjoy some hot cocoa!
Holiday Home Tour 2018- Our Festive Kitchen!
Our kitchen cannot be left out of the decorating! Although I will be honest in sharing I keep my kitchen seasonal decor to a minimum. Kitchens can appear cluttered when there is too much stuff! I like the stuff in my kitchen to have a practical purpose, with maybe one or two items that are just for aesthetics. But that is just me- and remember, to each his or her own! It is all about what makes YOU happy!
I love decorating with simple things like greenery, beads, and ornaments!
We have a small pub table in my kitchen breakfast nook. I love adding Christmas touches to it too!
Well friends, I hope you enjoyed my holiday home tour 2018 today! While I am not completely done decorating, I hope some of the images and ideas shared give you inspiration for styling your own beautiful space. Mostly, I wish each and every one of you an absolutely joyous holiday season! May all of your Christmas dreams come true!
