Welcome friends! September is upon us! Pumpkins and colorful leaves are abundant, the air is cooling, and college football dominates Saturday afternoons! Isn’t this time of year perfect? In Florida, we can check the boxes for pumpkins and football- not necessarily the leaves or cooler temps. But we can imagine these things, right? So yay! Let’s celebrate! Join me for my fall home tour 2018!
Fall Home Tour 2018- Soft Pops of Color
My heart belongs to farmhouse neutral decor. And while most seasons I stay true to these roots, I cannot help but embrace bright pops of orange in fall! Orange and white pumpkins are my jam! I also did not turn my back on the black and white plaid ones. (…cue excited music!…) My daughter says we do not leave a store without a pumpkin or two or five. She speaks the truth!
I made that Home Sweet Home sign! I am often asked where I got it. Want to see how I made it? Click here! I love simple projects that can be completed in one afternoon! Even better, I enjoy projects I can complete with materials on hand!
I introduced black and white buffalo check into this year’s decor and I LOVE it! Now that I think about it, I have brought black and white into my regular decor this year, so maybe that is why I have embraced the buffalo check? As my style has evolved to more modern farmhouse, with a lot of white, I think I like adding pops of black to keep things from looking too muted.
My Christmas tree went in this spot last year. When the tree came down, it looked so bare! I moved the table, and on a whim, added the black and white. Love it- so simple and classic!
This table used to be solid black. Yes, back in the day I was queen of Tuscan style home decor and the black table rocked my world. As my style changed, it did too! Click here to see its makeover!
Fall Home Tour- Table Decorating
I love to create beautiful table displays! This one is from the four person pub table in our breakfast nook. My kids start their day eating breakfast at this table, and I like decorating it for the season for them! All accessories I place on this table are easy to move, so when the kids eat the place setting moves and goes back when they are done!
The wicker charger I found at Pier One Imports, the silver charger on top of it came from Old Time Pottery. I purchased the small white plate from Crate and Barrel and the pumpkin bowls I found at Ross a couple years ago. Target has my heart, and it is there that i found the striped linen napkins.
The table is black. I place a black placemat down first to prevent scratches on the table. Next, I placed a wicker charger on the black placemat, followed by the silver charger on top of it. A small white plate goes next, and so on. The napkin ring I bought on Halloween clearance from Pier One Imports two years ago. Friends, I LOVE buying seasonal décor through after season sales! Always fun to open the décor tote and find new things among all the older décor. And you save money- so win win!
The napkin holders came from Pier One Imports, and they were completely gold when I got them. This season, I painted the pumpkins white. LOVE, love, love them white! Click here to see how I used homemade chalk paint to paint pumpkins!

I added a silver candle holder to the center of the table and placed a white pumpkin on top!
Fall Home Tour 2018- Warm and Cozy Rules!
A true statement for fall is warm and cozy. Best part of warm and cozy is it is so easy to create! I use lots of throw pillows and blankets to give this room a cozy feel. The great thing about using throws and pillows to decorate a space is they are easy to change out with the seasons. All of my throw blankets and pillow covers are washable- a must with a family!
Love, love, love snuggling up on this couch! Our weekdays are busy in our home. Many weekend afternoons find us hanging here!
This is our family room- the place where my family gathers and hangs out most! Sometimes people ask what I do with all of the throw pillows when people sit down. Truth? I am not too picky about it and do not require my peeps to move them! All of my throw pillow covers are inexpensive and washable. The pillows themselves were inexpensive too! As much as I would love exclusive Pottery Barn home accessories, I much rather prefer my family be comfortable and me not having to nag them!
See that black and white plaid runner on the ottoman? Washable and durable. I pretend my husband does not put his feet on it. Comfort people- it’s about my family’s comfort!
Fall Home Tour 2018- Kitchen Love
Kitchens need decor love too! I like soft, subtle touches in my kitchen area. Too much quickly makes it feel cluttered! My kitchen is a busy place in the morning and evenings, so too much décor would get in the way.
This rustic pumpkin display occupies the space where my daughter’s Keurig sat all summer. After four months home, she is back for her second year at the University of Florida (go GATORS!)! Why not fill the space with seasonal décor?
I painted my kitchen cabinets white this spring! I wanted to paint them for a long time but I was nervous. Afraid to go for what I really wanted! I mean, it is just paint! What held me back so long? I am not really sure! Just glad I finally took a leap and gave it a shot! Click here to see my post on painting my cabinets white. I also made the faux brick backsplash with compound mortar- super easy! Read about that here!
Here you can see my Gators cutting board! The one Homegoods purchase my husband LOVES! He is so proud of his baby girl.
During spring and summer months, I keep fresh flowers in this white vase. In fall and winter, I use seasonal pics instead. I have a wheat color in the vase for fall and plan to add some pops of red in winter!
This metal dough bowl holds orange and white pumpkins mixed with lambs ear and poppies. Great mix for fall!
I decorate for fall early- usually around Labor Day! The first weekend in October I will change things up a bit by adding Halloween décor! Next month I will do a Halloween décor blog post. Be sure to subscribe to this blog to get all décor updates!
How do you decorate for the seasons?
