Hello dear friends! Well, it is here- the most wonderful time of the year!! A time to take pleasure in sharing special moments with those you love most. I absolutely love the entire holiday season, and Christmas is my FAVORITE! To me, it just feels so magical, a time of hope and inspiration and positive reflection. One of my favorite things is decorating our home for the holidays! Join me for our Christmas Home Tour 2017!
Welcome to My Christmas Home Tour 2017
We got new furniture delivered on December 5. While in the store picking out the furniture, I noticed a Magnolia Homes clearance section- every piece was selling for $9.99! I got this gorgeous tray, along with a second one and large metal bin. I wanted ALL the things, but I had to show restraint! My husband asked if I would rather get all of the accessories instead of the furniture… a girl can take the hint. But I will not lie, I think I was as excited about these Magnolia Homes finds as I was about the new furniture! Ha!
I cannot wait to style this thing through all the seasons. For Christmas, I placed a candle holder and some greenery and some faux berries. My favorite holiday candles come for Bath and Body Works. Frosted Cranberry and Tis the Season are my JAM! I burn candles year round but the fall and Christmas collections are my favorite. The small JOY sign came from Michaels. Bought while Black Friday shopping for $3! Love super deals!
Christmas Home Tour 2017- The Tree
So this year I finally took the plunge and went neutral with my Christmas tree décor. I have been wanting to do this for the last two years, but friends, every year when I see my super cute Santa and Snowman ornaments, adorned in bright red and lime green glitter, I could not bring myself to do it! This year I stayed strong and stuck with my plan for all things neutral. AND I LOVE IT! Many of the gold and silver ornaments I purchased last year during post-Christmas sales. The ribbon, tree topper, and beaded garland I purchased at Michaels, and most everything else I bought from the dollar store. Can you believe it? Never would I think to look to Dollar General for ornaments but a new one opened about a mile from my home and they had incredible stuff!
Isn’t this reindeer cute? I bought him for $1!!
My Christmas tree is celebrating its 12th season with our family! The pre-lit lights no longer work, and it is developing some bare spots I constantly contend with, but I just cannot seem to part with this beast. Maybe next year. For now, I am enjoying another season with it! Click here to see how I flocked the tree this year! It is super easy to do and really gives the tree a wintery look!

I often get asked how I decorate my tree. Does the ribbon go on first, or garland, etc? Click here to see step by step how I decorate my tree!
Do you see that cute Merry Christmas sign? I made it- super easy and super cheap! Click here to see how easy it is to add a personal touch like this to your tree this year! Making my own ornaments was fun. I definitely will do more of this next year!
My three children are teenagers now, and it has been a couple years since we have had a Santa “believer” in our home. Sometimes this makes me so sad! One benefit, though, is that I seem to keep up with the wrapping of the presents as I purchase them much better! When they were small, I would buy the gifts and hide them in the empty holiday decoration totes in the garage. Christmas Eve I was always overwhelmed when my husband would bring the totes in and I would see how much we had to wrap! And by we, I mean mostly me, ha ha! He would help where he could and keep me company until it was all done- which was usually 2:00 in the morning! I do enjoy wrapping them early now and decorating them with fancy ribbon.
Christmas Home Tour 2017- Adding COLOR!
So while I went neutral with my tree, I had to have my bright pops of red in other areas of my home! You will notice the napkins on my table are red, doubled with a white napkin underneath. Love the contrast of red and white!
And subtle pops of red with my pillows! The Santa pillow came from the new Target line Magnolia Hearth and Hand. Yet another place where I WANT ALL THE THINGS!
Something fun I added this year to our holiday home is a hot cocoa bar! Another Pinterest find, I was inspired to create a cute, whimsical station where my kids could enjoy hot cocoa with sweet toppings whenever they craved something warm! Being that we live in Florida, craving a warm drink is rare… but the sweet toppings make it easy to pretend we live somewhere cold!

A mix of winter wonderland- with a touch of red candy canes!
My mother bought me this Santa Claus years ago. When my holiday décor went red and green- and stayed that way for quite a few years- he was sadly left in a tote year after year. However, this winter wonderland theme was a great fit for him and he is back! Yay!
Some red mixed in with that gold- love, love, love it! When decorating for the holidays, I think it is important to display what you love, and recognize you can make the rules for what can go together and what should not! I would never have envisioned this display, but once I put it together I really liked it. And hey- this is the second Magnolia Homes tray I mentioned earlier! The tiny tree I bought at the dollar store and flocked it. What can I say? Once you start flocking, it is hard to stop!
